The Guest (2014) Take Drive and give it a darker tone with subtle black humor and a more action and you got The Guest. A thriller that makes you feel its going a certain direction, but it starts to morph and take shape and by the end youre getting something completely different. And even so, in the back of your mind you expected something would happen, you just didnt want to believe it, which i think its testament to the care there was in developing these characters and their relationship with each other. It is the heart of this movie and Dan Stevens performance as David will keep you glued to the screen and tug on that heart so many directions is going to make you go crazy. The music takes the film into a strange place, using almost retro sounding indie pop that feels out of place because of the modern setting of the story, but is very well implemented into the story not only as a plotline, but as a way to express character development in the film. The film oozes style, with director Adam Wingards humor spread about the film you forget that certain camera shots were weirdly blurry for some reason, plot holes here and there, and a sense that maybe i enjoyed the film just because of the surprise but overall its a good thriller that i think most people will enjoy. (contender for favorite of the year maybe??) https://youtube/watch?v=y0E2Qh6wLS4
