The Gun Geo Marker app has now entered phase 2, documenting the results of the honeypot. These will be regularly updated at gungeomarker.org. And I have to say, while I understand that many of the comments I have received are certainly not representative of the community within the United States who exercise their second amendment rights (as I do), they certainly are provocative in a way that hurts our ability to have a rational conversation about preserving our second amendment rights. Further, the way that many more in the community have read their worst fears into this gun safety project is disappointing as well. Nevertheless, this all serves as a good marker of where we are today: Unable to hold a civil debate without it devolving into threats and name calling. Unable to read and comprehend. Unable to represent clearly or accurately. In the long run, these passionate but irrational reactions are themselves a threat to our second amendment rights. I caution on everyone to take a deep breath and think about what has happened here.
