The Gurardian Angel vs. The Agent of Death, (copyright: Caroline A. Hinton, November, 2009) THE GUARDIAN ANGEL vs. THE AGENT OF DEATH The doctor had informed the family that Terrence would die, sad confused, feeling he was too young, The others left, quietly bearing their grief, LuAnn his wife, would not leave, but stay by his side; Content to lie in the other bed in the room, she asked the nurse for a blanket and prayed, knowing a battle ensued; The vigil involved more than prayers that he would live, The war was waged against Death the thief, the robber of life, who also wanted to steal Terrence immortal soul from him; Pale, see-through face, Old Death, the pale horse rider, wore black, rattled the doorknob, Entered the room, wearing a scowl on his visage; smoke and a foul odor accompanying him; Proud look on his face, soul-acquisition form in his hand, he looked about with disdain. Suddenly, Terrence’s guardian angel appeared, standing, stationed by his side; grew two times taller pushed Death to the floor! The angel turned, stooped down lifted the soul, a transparent image of the patient from the bed, leaving only his remains; LuAnn watched, unable to cry as the angel walked through the door, went up into the hallway ceiling, went outside, carrying her husband’s soul in his arms, Finally the angel went into the sun-lit blue sky, joined a chariot of other angels who traveled with haste, taking the soul back to God; Lu Ann wept softly, leaned over her husband’s body, kissed his face, now cold, became aware of the sound of the alarm going off; heard footsteps of the medical team approaching the room, hoping to resuscitate the patient’s heart.
