The H3N2 variant influenza virus seen in central and northern Indiana last summer has been detected again. Four people have had symptoms and thirteen pigs harbored the virus without symptoms. This is not unlike the H7N9 outbreak in China, where the animals involved were not symptomatic. However, the H3N2v virus last year did not spread very far and caused only mild illness.
