The Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra is presenting two FREE concerts this Thursday and Saturday as part of the What Next Festival of New Music. Hear what Canadian composers are writing today in these innovative and cutting edge presentations of new music. A Canadian Mosaic Thursday, May 15 at 7:30pm Christs Church Cathedral (252 James St. N.) Hear these old world cultures come to life and infused into 21st century Canadian compositions. This concert features the work of composers who have taken their inspiration from the folk music of their heritage. Featuring works inspired by Greece, Spain, Serbia, Israel and Iran, this program offers guests a refreshing take on some of the cultures that make up the Canadian mosaic. From the Eastern Gate: New Works Inspired by Chinese Heritage Saturday, May 17 at 7:30pm Centenary United Church (24 Main St. W.) Hear contemporary chamber works inspired by traditional Chinese music from six of Canada’s finest Chinese-Canadian composers. Our HPO musicians are joined by special guests on traditional Chinese instruments the erhu and guzheng.
