The Handbag Spa’s company history. THBS began in 2009 in Marbella at the beginning of the economic crisis. When fashion loving “handbagistas” began looking at repair and care solutions, rather than buying new bags! It was the brain child of Lee Bryan and Judy Bass, both time served leather industry professionals with experience in the handbag sector. Judy Bass started the now world renowned LTT training company in 2001 with her partner, Andy Alcock. Together, they took the UK market by storm, setting the standard for training and product development, that everyone follows even today. Judy, is one of the premier leather care trainers in Europe, and possibly the world. She has an exceptional knowledge of leather care and restoration and is undoubtedly an industry pioneer. Lee Bryan trained in leather repair in the USA, before starting his business on the Costa del Sol in Marbella. Cutting his teeth repairing leather on high end motor cars and multi-million pound boats in the world famous Puerto Banus. Lee was then approached by STAHL, the world leading manufacturer in leather finishing chemicals, turning over €350 million per year. Joining the aftercare team in Holland to develop their market share. More recently Lee spent time with another chemical giant in Valdagno, Italy. This experience led Lee to work on projects with the likes of Bulgari, Salvatore Ferragamo, Piquadro, Tory Burch, TUMI and up and coming brands like MIA. Together, Lee & Judy make a formidable team, with experience gathered from all corners of the world and direct experience with some of the finest brands in the world. We have had the privilege to work along side some of the world’s finest and most experienced leather chemists, which has given us the knowledge to provide the finest blend of care chemistry for delicate leathers. We are not arrogant enough to claim to be the only handbag specialist in the world, but we are the only specialist with this level of experience! This pedigree has allowed us to attract the best partners and resellers in the world, and has given our clients the confidence to refer us to their friends. The Handbag Spa relocated to the UK in 2012 for logistically reasons. Today, THBS has the largest network of agents of any similar company as well as franchises in the Middle East and Europe, with several more pending in Asia and Australia. Our products are being sold in boutiques around the world, as well as online. In spite of our 4-year history, we see ourselves as just beginning our journey and have many interesting products and services in development, which will be released over the coming months. We aim to continue to be pioneers for our industry and to continue to serve our clients with excellence.
