The Headshot The most important thing for an actor, aside - TopicsExpress

The Headshot The most important thing for an actor, aside from talent and luck is their face. If the face fits. The face that may be attractive to a casting director has to be layered with intellectual thought, able to take direction, and ultimately has to be the same face that walks in the room, once the first hurdle has been passed. For such an important decision for any actor to make every year, it is unbelievable that the Headshot has become for many something to take quite lightly. As we now live in an age of digital technology, the idea of a taking a picture seems to be something that anybody can do. We are all about the camera phone and the selfie and its a given that photography is simply part of our every moment and is accessible to anyone and everyone. A good headshot is not just the exterior captured, but also the interior exposed. A good headshot photographer isnt just an out of work actor with a digital dslr thats decided to opt out of working FOH as a safety net when resting. A good headshot photographer isnt a friends uncle who has a keen eye for a landscape and is willing to give up their Sunday for £50. A good headshot photographer isnt the person that offer 20 retouches and hundreds of photos on a disc for £95 because they miraculously happen to have 3 cancellations that week. A good headshot photographer is essentially your director for the day that is going to capture you. Not just the you that you foolishly believe is just a still of your image because actually you dont want to pay £250, but the you that has the passion, drive and commitment to be in this city and face head on the toughest profession there is. These words are not a personal marketing tool for my own work, as there are many photographers out there that have the same philosophy and work ethic as me. These words, hopefully are a message to make you stop and think . Think about your headshot being as strong as your personal objective for work. If youre happy to work the odd panto, cruise ship or holiday park tour, then book in with the out of work actor,or the friends uncle. If youre serious about where you are and where you want to be, then please seriously consider the above message and find yourself a professional that cares about your visual representation as much as you.
