The Healing Word for today.... James 4:7 So humble yourselves before God. Resist the Devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw close to God, and God will draw close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, you hypocrites. 9 Let there be tears for the wrong things you have done. Let there be sorrow and deep grief. Let there be sadness instead of laughter, and gloom instead of joy. 10 When you bow down before the Lord and admit your dependence on him, he will lift you up and give you honor. (NLT) Most of the great problems in our lives comes from the fact that want to be boss. The words from and old Christian song by the Imperials, “Every body wants to play lead guitar. Nobody wants to play rhythm guitar behind Jesus.” We want to be boss! It is a job that we are very poorly suited for. The key to happiness and fulfillment in life is submission to the will of God. When we humble ourselves beneath the mighty hand of God we find a capable and caring leader for life and eternity. Every body, no matter who they are needs Someone bigger than they are. We call this letting Jesus be Lord. You might also call it true discipleship. The Kingdom of God needs true leaders, but the leaders we need are the best followers. If you can’t follow you are not equip to lead. Let the Great Shepherd lead you. Happiness and fulfillment will be you temporary and eternal reward. PRAYER: My God, I have ask You to be my Deliverer. Only You can deliver me from the world, the flesh and the Devil. Too often I have desired true freedom without yielding to You as my Master. Forgive my arrogance and childish independence and be my Lord. In Jesus’ Name, amen. COMMITMENT: I will trust Christ as my Savior and submit to Him as my Lord. I am a willing servant to only one King, Jesus Christ. His Word will dominate my daily life and I will seek to please Him in all that I do.
