The Heartbleed flaw -WHAT TO DO?! Ive been asked a number of times about this today. Of course, its all over the news and talk shows. Both comprise a lot of people you should not take advice from. There is nothing you can do about the Heartbleed flaw. It is something that only the website managers can correct. What shouldnt you do? You shouldnt go to every website you have a login with and change it today. Why NOT do it immediately? The communication protocol with which this flaw is occurring in has to be used to be be hacked. If there is no communication between you and the website, you cant be hacked. So dont communicate your login information with a website until you know its safe, then act on it. What should you do? After you get verification that a particular web site is not vulnerable to this flaw, then go and change your password. -This time DONT use the same password for every thing. -Make up a password that is hard to understand but easy to remember (or use a password manager like RoboForm). -Use Upper and lower case letters, numbers and symbols in your password. For instance Eye_H@te_H@cker$! is a complicated, long password that would be somewhat difficult to break but easy to remember. (Dont use this one, its mine ;-) Kidding! Be safe out there!
