The Heritage Council Wetlands are significant habitats in Ireland with many designated as NHAs and/or SACs. Along with their value for biodiversity, wetlands are an integral part of the Irish landscape and deliver a wide range of essential services to society such as flood attenuation, water quality enhancement, amenities, carbon sinks and educational values Waterford County Council in association with the Irish Wildlife Trust and ourselves are hosting a seminar on 20th September at Dunhill Ecopark entitled "The Value of Wetlands: Investing in Nature for Climate, Conservation & Community" The aim of this seminar is to raise awareness on the value and uses of wetlands for climate, conservation and community and inform on recent developments in wetland legislation and national surveys of wetlands. All interested in the values of wetlands and their ecosystem services are invited to attend.
