The Hillfields Community Trust is planning an event to celebrate the Diamond Year of Hillfields Youth Hub. Hillfields Youth Centre was saved this year from closure by Hillfields Young Mothers Group after the Youth Links Contracts for the future of Bristol Council funded youth provision saw buildings left out of the youth provision fund following cuts to the city budget and the financing of The Station in Central Bristol which is open to all Bristol Youth thestationbristol.org.uk Greater Fishponds Youth Links contracts were secured by Learning Partnership West covering Eastville and the Creative Youth Network delivering in Hillfields and Frome Vale who also run The Station and closer to home they have The Kingswood Estate creativeyouthnetwork.org.uk/our-places/the-kingswood-estate-bristol.html The Creative Youth network deliver youth club at Hillfields Youth Hub on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and they also deliver at Hanahm Youth Centre creativeyouthnetwork.org.uk/our-places/hanham-youth-club.html but for Hillfields especially please visit: creativeyouthnetwork.org.uk/our-places/hillfields-youth-hub.html The Hillfields Youth Hub had suffered from years of just running costs to keep the centre open but no real inward investment since most of the club was rebuilt & reopened in the very late 80s / early 90s; so Hillfields Young Mothers Group have been hard at work to clear out lorry loads of junk and plan for a new kind of youth & community hub for the future and hopefully with new funds secured for the area. On the 20th September an event in Hillfields Youth Hub and on to Hillfields Park will be in the form of a family fun day to celebrate 60 years of our youth hub which was orginally built by local volunteers and unofficially opened by the Duke of Edinburgh who was inspired by the work of local breadline community volunteers and which had been written about in his newspaper in London. Afterwards he set off for a tour at Rolls Royce & British Aerospace in Filton. Details of the event will be available on the Hillfields Community Trust (HCT) website and this is apart of the Fish Fest 2014 list of events happening in Fishponds as well. hillfieldscommunitytrust.org.uk The Fish Fest Events booklet will be uploaded on to their website during August with loads of events planned over two weeks..
