Stars Come Out For Healing The Children & New England Film Premiere and Fundraiser! (January 7, 2015, Bethel, CT) This February 20th, Hollywood comes out to support an important cause and the New England Premiere of The Historian. A feature film starring: William Sadler (Shawshank Redemption, Kinsey, Rockwell, Iron Man 3), John Cullum ( Northern Exposure ), Colin Cunningham (Stargate, The Collector) Glynnis OConnor ( As The World Turns). Hosting the evening are three dynamic Connecticut institutions. The Ridgefield Playhouse is the host venue for all the festivities, which are co-produced by The Connecticut Film Festival and Healing The Children Northeast. All three have joined forces to create an evening of excitement with great thought provoking cinema, a catered VIP Meet n’ Greet reception, a captivating Q&A followed by a live auction MC’d by actor William Sadler and a Sotheby’s auctioneer, and the premiere after party. The Historian is a strong character driven narrative created by one of the new generation of Orson Welles-like independent filmmakers of our time. The film’s creator is Miles Doleac who, like Welles - wrote, produced, directed and acted in the film. The extremely creative Doleac is part of a new group of visual-story tellers. Like most filmmakers, he aspires to open the doors with the big distributors and movie studios for that big break. However Doleac, like many of today’s new filmmakers, is not afraid to go it alone. Especially if it means maintaining integrity and control of the content produced, creating strong and non-formulated thought provoking cinema. The Historian evening will kick-off at 5:30pm when the stars and producers gather for the VIP Meet n’ Greet reception sponsored by Michael Bick’s: Some Things Fishy Catering of Bethel. Passed bites and elixirs will be in order for this fundraising party. The evening’s festivities continue at 7:00pm immediately after welcoming comments. Following the film there will be a Q&A with the producers and cast members. The audience can then participate in the fun and excitement, when actor William Sadler (Healing The Children’s celebrity spokesperson) MC’s a brief auction of several luxury items and services. The auction will then segue to the Premiere After Party in the lobby of the Ridgefield Playhouse for those guests with a VIP, or Film and After Party ticket. Proceeds from the evening’s events will benefit Healing The Children Northeast. Healing The Children Northeast Inc. (located in New Milford) is 501(c)(3), non-profit, non-partisan, volunteer organization. Their purpose is to help children throughout the world receive medical care unavailable to them due to a lack of medical and financial resources or health insurance. 93% of all monetary donations go directly to these services. To date, 48,000 children have been healed through the New Milford office’s efforts. htcne.org The Connecticut Film Festival produces more than 125 annual days and nights of film screenings, industry workshops and panels, weekend festivals, a statewide films series and of course film premieres.
