The History of the Salem Witch Hunt On this day in 1692 The accusation of Martha Corey marked a turning point in the Salem witch trials crisis of 1692 in Massachusetts. Although Martha espoused her innocence throughout her whole ordeal, she was put to death on September 22, 1692. Marthas husband, Giles, died on September 19th.........enduring 32 boulders pressed on his stomach. His insides were forced out though his mouth and he suffered a terrible death in front of his wife and children.
