The Holly and the Ivy. This will be the last video of my virtual Christmas concert as I prepare for my own holiday and switch musical gears to practicing jazz standards for the January 2nd Firehouse gig and several of my original tunes for the open air Plunge gig on January 4th. This has been a sometimes taxing, but mostly fun and rewarding musical project. I was surprised at how easy it was to pick up several new songs for my repertoire, but also how challenging some songs are that arent general thought of as advanced pieces. As I said before, just because a song is easy to listen to, that doesnt mean it is easy to play (or compose!). I appreciate the composers and performers who have come before more and more every time I pick up the mallets! I know I am a better player now than I was going into this multi, multi song project and suspect my composition skills will also improve from this exercise. Thanks all for listening, fir the likes and for the many nice comments both online and off. Thanks, too, to my dogs for their, um, interesting sonic contributions to these videos, including the Henry-Heidi-Ruby rumble incongruously accompanying this sweet traditional tune! :-D
