The Hong Kong Vajrakilaya Mandala (1) Background Over the years since Rinpoche has been visiting outside “modern”countriesmore frequently, he has observed that people of our time living our present day life-styles are actually more prone to be carried away bythe 3 Poisons of ‘Desire’, ‘Hatred’ and ‘Ignorance’. These afflicting emotions create bad Karma, to manifest as diseases, poverty, natural disasters, famines, wars and evil spirits, producing unhappiness and suffering for ourselves and others. Buddhism has always been a path to guide us to enlightenment, with its way paved with skilful means, to not just help us achieve this enlightenment aim, but also better our present life. In this regard, Buddha has particularly manifested in the form of Vajrakilaya,a deity withthe powerful ability to clear obstacles for us, and transform ourafflicting emotions into enlightened Wisdom and Compassion. Rinpoche is kind to open The Door to The Vajrakilaya Mandala at the Hong Kong Center, for wefaithful students in Hong Kong.By order of Rinpoche, a replica of the Vajrakilaya Mandala at the Padtselling Monastery in Bhutan will be produced, and blessed by him and the Sangha of the monastery. Then this Mandala will be used as the Principal Deity during the 3-day Ritual of the VajrakilayaDrubchen Puja in Hong Kong, on 6th, 7th, 8th February, as it acquiresfurther blessing. Then after the Puja, the Mandala will be kept in the Hong Kong Center permanently, to act as a target of worship, prayers & wishes, and a powerful source to ceaselessly clear obstacles, grant blessing and bringing good fortune to students in Hong Kong. (The “Parent”VajraKilaya Mandala at the Bhutan Padtselling Monastery is over 245 year old, and well known to be a great source of blessing to everyone in Bhutan. It is said that upon receiving blessing from this relic, one will never be born again in the lower realms, with our present life wishes spontaneously fulfilled.) THE CENTRE IS GENUIENLY IN NEED OF WELL WISHER TO SPONSOR FUND AND DONATION FOR THE NOBLE INTENTION OF RINPOCHE. (2) Introduction of the Vajrakilaya Deity Vajrakilaya is the Yidam deity that embodies the enlightened activity of all the Buddhas. Vajrakilaya is one of the eight deities of the Kagay, with a pre-eminent postion as the special deity of Guru Rinpoche. Moreover, Guru Rinpoches principal consort and disciple, KandroYesheTsogyal also attained enlightenment through practicing Vajrakilaya. As a wisdom deity, Vajrakilaya covers everything necessary in a spiritual practice, to providefor the full path to Enlightenment as well as every temporary need for good conditions of our present life. Vajrakilaya is surrounded by a retinue of deities with different specialties, including the gathering of auspiciousness, prosperity & longevity, and the expression of mastery and control. The special quality of Vajrakilaya is the ability to clear away obstacles and to transform all the emotional afflictions, especially the most destructive emotions of the three poisons, into enlightened Wisdom and Compassion. Vajrakilayas inner nature is peace (Compassion), so his wrathful outer guise should not be misunderstood. He is not a Protective Deity, but the Wisdom Deity that embodies and reveals the true nature of our mind. His Wisdom Fire burn away our emotional afflictions, thus uncovering the calm and serene nature of the mind, and opening up the possibilities for genuine communication with others and compassionate activities. Therefore, Vajrakilaya practice is particularly powerful for engendering inner peace, family& social harmony, and conducive to enhancing political stability and world peace. (3) The Master responsible for this auspicious event – His Eminence 5thPadtsellingTulku, and the PadtsellingTulkus lineage All past and present PadtsellingTulkus are great practitioners of Vajrakilaya and supreme holders of the Dorje-Sogdrup treasure teaching. After completing the recitation, he made a wish for the Monlam to spread across the world, which may have well becomeone key contributing cause to the popularity ofMonlam practice across the world we have today. Due to the first Padtselling Tulku’s merit and auspicious cause from the past, the statue of Jowe Rinpoche spoke to him he was told to build a temple at a place -Bumthang in Bhutan, which is the location where the Padtselling Monastery is situated today.
