The Honolulu City Councils budget committee is holding a special meeting this morning to discuss two items, and both are about federal, e.g., CDBG, funds. Once again the council is trying to tip the scales of government balance by taking control. One reason given for the additional control is the belief that these federal funds should go to nonprofit organizations rather than the city itself. The city is eligible to receive these funds, however, and if it did, our county general funds could be used for other things. Thoughts?
