The Honourable Dosco. Well folks, Founders weekend was an astounding Success, with the Jaipur House Old Boys pulled out all the stops with two great Parties, (See Pix over the next few days but as a teaser one Brilliant one already uploaded on the site under DSOBS Events!) and a wild Pagal Gymkhana! That Doscos are generous with their wallets and time when it comes to affairs of the ‘School’ is universally acknowledged, but what was really remarkable was that which unfolded on the last day of the weekend at The DSOBS AGM. The fraternity is aware that The DSOBS support worthy causes and The John Martyn School ( dsobs.net/jakmartyn.php ) is one of them. Dilsher Virk, 140K ’59, its managing trustee, had barely begun to speak about its current fund raising drive towards which the JMM Trust was putting up for sale the John Martyn Album, when there came from the floor of the house a suggestion that The DSOBS ought to raise the funds to preserve the Album as a single collection of sixty of his paintings and donate it to the Library of The Doon School. What followed was two Doscos simultaneously rose to the occasion, Moin Qureshi 467K ’75, the president of The DSOBS, and Arjun Malhotra 325 K ’64. It was finally decided, after some discussion, since Arjun Malhotra was the senior of the two this singular honour would go to him. Thus, ladies and Gentlemen, the JAK Martyn Album will now rest in The Doon School Library with a selection of paintings displayed in a special corner of the reading room dedicated to the legendary Head Master and the honour of having made this possible will lie with Arjun Malhotra.
