The Hotel del Coronado is all dressed up for the holidays! This enormous 1887 frame hotel, rising from the Coronado peninsula beach in California like a castle, was designed by the Reid Brothers of San Francisco. Thomas A. Edison supervised the installation of the original electrical system, the worlds first in a hotel. It was here that Edward, Prince of Wales, met Wallis Simpson during a 1920 banquet held in his honor. The Del was, and remains, one of the most architecturally interesting luxury hotels in the country and is a National Historic Landmark.
