The House just passed the CRomnibus, a 1600 page spending bill - TopicsExpress

The House just passed the CRomnibus, a 1600 page spending bill that was released two days ago. The vote was 219-206. I voted no. We just had an election last month. The American people rendered a decisive judgment. Yet, here we are in a lame duck session of Congress and the House green lights a bill that spends more than $1 trillion. I *believe* that this bill is not in the best interests of the country and taxpayers. I *know* that not a single member could have read, much less understood, the entire bill. Now that the House has passed it the American people will find out what is in it. Of the 219 “yes” votes, 29 were cast by members who were either defeated in November or who are retiring this year. Do we really want bills of this magnitude to pass in a lame duck session due to the votes of members who are no longer accountable to the people? Instead of passing a 1,600 page omnibus, the House should have passed a short-term spending bill that would have enabled the new Congress, which will convene in a matter of weeks, to set the nation’s spending priorities, protect taxpayers and check the President’s executive amnesty.
