The Howe Fire Dept B-21 brush truck will be down until further notice due to a fire involving the truck. Our truck was a total loss and will require mutual aid from surrounding departments for brush truck aid. The transfer case exploded, which shoved the driveshaft into the motor and fuel system which caused the fire while running a call to Van Alstyne. The driver of our truck heard a noise and pulled over immediately and exited the vehicle then the hood exploded. No injuries happened and the truck was hauled away by wrecker. The Howe Fire Dept will be working with insurance to take care of this matter and purchase a new brush truck. This will not affect our response time or our service.
