The Humane Society of Pensacola has been awarded a $25,000 grant by Florida Animal Friend Spay/Neuter License Plate Program to continue its free spay/neuter program. The program covers the costs of spaying/neutering through 2014 for Escambia County households making less than $35,000 a year, according to a news release. Volunteers are needed for various weekend sign-up locations in the area. Those interested should call Humane Society Volunteer Coordinator Monie Russo at 432-4260. The Humane Society is a no-kill shelter for homeless dogs and cats located at 5 North Q St., in Pensacola. For more information, visit humanesocietyofpensacola.org.
