The Ice Bucket Challenge has gone very viral in the US and now it is being questioned, criticized and, of course, affirmed by all the attention and participation - including raising many times more funds for its favorite cause, research to cure ALS. It is really crazy how some can go into questioning what has obviously raised sympathy and support for a worthy cause - about ten times more than the year before in terms of donations. They go into all sorts of supposition which largely go nowhere except to reveal the bias of many commentaries, including one from UNICEF. The point is that, !) the purpose is good and noble, and 2) the methodology appeals and effectively triggers attention and sympathy from many, and most probably a previous non-market for philanthropy. Those who do not like the Ice Bucket Challenge are more than welcome to avoid it - as they are already avoid ing it. Those who like it for their own reasons, the same reasons why this has gone viral, please go ahead and adopt more noble causes. I hope that I can push this methodology to spark generosity in others, too, for causes I deeply believe in, enough to have an ice bucket poured on me :-)
