The Iceman review: ~Buster Organized Crime starring Michael - TopicsExpress

The Iceman review: ~Buster Organized Crime starring Michael Shannon, Winona Ryder, Chris Evans, Ray Liotta, David Schwimmer and limited screen time with James Franco The Iceman is about hit man Richard Kuklinski who killed over 100 people as a contract killer while living a complete double life. I watched the documentary about this man and was excited when I heard a movie was being made. My excitement further grew when I found out Michael Shannon was starring. Well my expectations werent met but that doesnt mean it wasnt still a really good movie. Michael Shannon of course is very good at the dark, personal struggle and painful characters so he was a great selection. The rest of the cast is good as well and its nice seeing Ray Liotta getting some better movies lately....even if his character is pretty narrow. Chris Evans and James Franco were a surprise and it was kind of funny at first seeing David Schwimmer here since hes basically type casted as his Friends character. So great cast with a dark story that could go anywhere. My complaint is it didnt feel epic or have a dramatic punch like some of the great organized crime films usually have. There was so much to explore in this character and it felt like they stayed too long on some elements that were not as important. Honestly though it is a really good movie still, there is a lot of kills and we see his struggle with his love for his family vs. consequences of his choices. If you like Mafia type films then check this out and watch the documentary after.
