The Ijaw Youth Council Worldwide has charged a Kaduna-based Islamic Cleric, Ahmed Gumi, to stop inciting Muslims against the Christians in the Country. The council while reacting to an open letter written by the cleric to President Goodluck Jonathan urging him not to contest the 2015 general elections says the cleric’s charges were baseless and unfounded. IYC speaking through its spokesperson, Eric Omare, says Gumi’s letter was deliberately written to prepare the ground for a massive attack on Christians in the northern part of Nigeria, in the event that President Jonathan wins the 2015 presidential election. It says the memories of the killing of thousands of innocent northern Christians and southerners in the aftermath of the 2011 presidential election was still very fresh in the mind of Nigerians. The IYC also called on relevant security agencies to investigate Gumi’s letter and bring him to justice.
