The Image of God Chapter 1 pages 18-20 We Are Blessed When we watch what Jesus said and did, we see that all He did was minister the goodness of God. The love of God came across in everything He did. With the Word of God, He was lifting the people up who were without hope. Jesus told the people the same thing that God told Job. What? Start speaking and acting like you are blessed from God Almighty! Grab a hold of God’s Word and start laying claim to the covenant promises that belong to you. They are blessings from God, made to be carried by those who are made in the image of God. They are not separate from God, but are a part of who God is. When we take on the image of God, blessings are a part of the package deal. God is blessed, therefore we are blessed. This is all part of the love that God is. We read earlier in Colossians 1:19 that, In Jesus all the fullness of God dwells. Once we realize that Jesus was declaring the blessings of God in an attempt to encourage people to lay claim to their covenant promises, we will read the beatitudes in a whole new light. Jesus wasn’t talking about how much better off the poor and lowly are. No, no, no. Jesus was saying the same thing God said to Job. Jesus was saying, “Get up and declare what God says belongs to you!” 3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. 5 Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. 6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. 7 Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. 8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. 9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. 10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you. –Matthew 5:3-12 No matter what we face in life, we are to rejoice and declare, because we are blessed of God. God is the source of whatever we need. Are you starting to see that it is God’s will that we be blessed? In the beatitudes, Jesus gives us the formula that is vital to walking in the blessing of God. No matter what we are facing in life, the way to triumph through all things is to rejoice by realizing and declaring we are blessed. Meditate on the truth that God loves us. God’s love is always at maximum capacity. We cannot gain anymore of God’s love, nor can we gain any less of God’s love. Regardless of what we face in life, God desires that we live as the blessed. God is Almighty, and there is none above Him. Renewing our minds takes meditation on God’s Word. We discussed earlier in the Old Testament how God gave several names with several meanings, in an attempt to change their thinking. What was He doing there? He was feeding them truth in order to renew their minds. He was saying, “I am the only living God and I possess all that is good, and all you will ever need.” https://dropbox/s/bf46c4kb3oxdcsy/The%20Image%20of%20God.pdf
