The Imo State governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha has resolved Ezeship tussles confronting five Communities in the State amongst numerous others deep in this crisis. The Communities are: Okata Community in Ihite Uboma Local Government area, with Mr. Chukwemeka Iwueke as the Eze nominee, Otiti North in Okigwe local government area and Mr. Chinagorom Osu as the Eze nominee while Mr. John Amefule for Aku Community in Okigwe LGA, Mr. Anthony Onu is for Ekwerim Community in Isiala Mbano LGA while Mr. Judge Eke was for Ishiubomiri in Mbaitoli LGA. This took place at Ahianjoku convention center recently where he said the effort is aimed at bringing lasting peace among warring Communities. He noted that the situation has hindered Community government thereby slowing down development in such areas. The governor said he would find lasting solution to it and pointed out that no individual has the right to impose himself on his people without due consent. He reminded them that government has constitutional right to remove any traditional ruler who violets the rule and called on those with impending court cases to withdraw them for peace and stability of their Communities. The governor who noted that the State has the highest number of traditional rulers called on them to live peaceably to fastback development in the State. .Governor Okorocha noted that the present administration hopes to put an end to the long ravaging disputes in the Communities, and warned that on no condition should they go back home to formant trouble because government would not hesitate to prosecute the offenders. He said those nominated following the settlement are still subject to confirmation by government as settlement of other Ezeship disputes in the remaining Communities would continue. In her remark the Commissioner for Community government and Chieftaincy affairs, Barr. Ugochi Nnanna Okoro said that the Ministry had discovered that the crisis was militating against the success of Community Government Council in these Communities and decided to push them for immediate government intervention. In their separate reaction after the occasion, Mr. Anthony Onu and Mr Judge Eke thanked the governor for his commitment and wisdom in resolving the dispute.
