The Indian Navy’s new corvette, INS Kamorta, ran aground in the Hooghly on Friday during sea trials, according to the Times of India. The ship is currently being built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE). As explained by Navy officers, the ship’s engines failed and pulled it away from its course. INS Kamorta was ordered in 2003 and was launched on April 21, 2010. It is expected to join the Navy by the end of 2013, but this accident could delay its commissioning.
