The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) is advising motorists in Knox County to watch for bicyclists in this year’s First Annual Keep Vincennes Rolling Ride. The ride is scheduled for Saturday, July 20, 2013, kicking off at 7:30 a.m. Participants will begin the event in the parking lot of Lincoln High School, 1545 South Hart Street Road in Vincennes. Cyclists will ride 4, 15, 35 or 65 mile routes winding through Knox County. Through their routes, bikers will be crossing State Road 61 near Verne and again in Monroe City. State Road 241 will also be crossed in two separate locations near Monroe City. Participants choosing the longer rides will also be crossing U.S. Route 50 at Monty and Anson Roads. Crossings will also take place on State Road 550 and again on State Road 67 in Bruceville. It is anticipated all participants will be off of the bicycle courses by 2:00 p.m. that day. Local law enforcement officials will be staged throughout the race course to aid with traffic control and protect the participants as they traverse the course. INDOT encourages motorists to slow down and pay special attention while traveling in these areas on July 20.
