The Indiana Department of Transportation plans to chip seal U.S. Highway 421 from Greensburg through Napoleon next week, weather permitting. Pavement preservation operations along 25 lane miles of roadway are scheduled to begin Tuesday morning. INDOT maintenance crews from the Aurora Sub district will coat U.S. 421—between State Road 229 and S.R. 46—with liquid asphalt, then top the asphalt with small chips of aggregate. This process is expected to require three work days. Next, an overspray of fog seal will be applied—requiring two additional work days. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic around moving worksites. State officials strongly advise motorists to drive slowly—and with caution—on highways with fresh applications of chip seal or fog seal.
