The Indian’s arrow pierced the settler’s arm. Because of the arrowhead’s shape there’s no way for it to be retracted. The only way to get the arrow removed is to cut it out or push it through. Prognosis? Pain. Our words can be like sharp arrows. Proverbs 25:18 describes the power of words to inflict harm. “Like a club or a sword or a sharp arrow is one who gives false testimony against a neighbor.” False testimony, gossip, slander, half-truths, unholy prayer requests, and the like, wound the victim’s soul. Tough to retract once the piercing words leave the mouth. Prognosis? Pain. Solution? Leave the arrows in the quiver.
