Psalm 79:9. 2. A brook, in the Valley of Elah, produced five smooth stones. God is available for your Goliath also. 3. Doing a good turn is a good thing. Acknowledging it in others is a great thing. 4. No man can sincerely help another without helping himself. 5. When faith and fear sail into your harbor--only allow faith to drop anchor. 6. Our concern should not be so much that our name is well known on earth---but is written in heaven. 7. Keep your focus on something positive, and the things you have to do, just may become the things you want to do. Michael Burke Pastor’s Notes: Calvary had two great services this past weekend. Bro. Terry Smith did a good job singing and everyone was uplifted by his music and testimonies. Bro. Terry wrote one of my favorite songs, “Far Side Banks of Jordan”. I know I have several people waiting for me over there. The first time I heard this song, it was sung by a group from Independance, Missouri, The Sincerity Singers, back in 1984. I never dreamed I would get to know the writer of the song. The best I can tell, Bro. Terry came to Calvary for the first time October 7, 2002. He has been coming to Calvary every year except one we skipped. That would make 11 times he has been with Calvary in concert. One time that stands out he was on our television program and at a laundry mat when he came on all the people in the laundry mat gathered around the television to watch him. It is my request for Terry to sing “Far Side Banks of Jordan” at my funeral if he can and is not out of the country. A great thing happened this past Sunday when a 32 year man in our church office made a profession of faith after the concert. Praise the Lord. Sunday night was good with folks from Calvary singing specials and the Lord let me preach. During the month of November, I will only be preaching four times. Monday morning, November 10, my brother, Leon Stephens, passed to go be with Jesus. Leon was 87 on October 28, 2014. From his testimony, he knew Jesus and trusted Him to take Him to Heaven. Leon asked me several times in the past few years if I would preach his funeral and I said “I would”. At his wishes, I preached his celebration of life message on Friday morning at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk, Missouri. I dreaded doing this, but with God all things are possible and we celebrated his life. One of the highlights of my ministry was that I got to hear the professions of faith of Leon, Fern, and Steven and baptized them on Sunday Afternoon, November 24, 1974 for Calvary Church. Prayer Requests: Pray for Leon Stephens’ family as he passed on to be with Jesus, Jackie, Michael Branham, Hunter Key, Charley Chatman, Bob Perry, Don Stevens, Dreya Risner, Debbie Wren, Tonya Helsel, Zencie Rulo, Jakayla Williams, Mike Jacob, Shandi, Donnie, Brooke Richmann, Bob Smith, Matthew Tanner and family, Ms. Davidson (liver cancer), Joni Braden, Dallas Dugger, Mike Chapman, Larry and Caryl Johnson Denise Murphy, Linda Britton, Bobby & Jaime Ellis, Eddie Harris, Dixie Kelly, Cindy McWilliams, Bob Richardson (salvation and healing), , Chris Luttrell, Shirley Ruminer, Helen and Keith Frye, Clinton Britton, Kathy (Connie Hart’s sister) Scott and Tammy Jo, Amanda and A.J., April, Jim and Pam Smith( healing of Jim’s Lungs), Jerry Wills, Bonnie Reese, John and Roberta(salvation), Thelma McWilliams, Jack Chapman, Charles Chapman, (Ben and Mona Losh’s daughter, Julie), Linda Smith, George C.(salvation), , Dollie Faughn, David McWilliams, Clyde(salvation), Amy Vester, Gary House, Mike Murphy, Carol Moultrie, Glen Moultrie, Jessie Leader, Gene, Mike Head, Roger Moultrie, Dana Hindmen, Mary Blackburn, Bill Scaggs, Tim Hagood, Michael Arthur,(Eugene Dorsey, salvation and lung cancer), Brenda Buhler, (Mary Blackburn’s brother, David,), Clifford Burkett(salvation), Kenneth Jackson, Bethany(salvation), Fred Porch, (Ben Blanton’s Sister, Betty Allan, cancer), Daniel Presley and Family, Jason Crawley, (Luke is a 5 year old boy with a rare kind of encephalitis. Jesus is coming soon. Jesus the most hated name in the world. Chase Windebank is a senior at Pine Creek High School in Colorado Springs. Three years ago he started meeting together informally with his classmates for prayer and religious fellowship. The young people would meet in an unoccupied choir room to sing songs like “Amazing Grace” and discuss the issues of the day from a religious perspective. But all that changed on Sept. 29th when Chase was summoned to the office of Assistant Principal James Lucas. “He was told that he could no longer pray with his fellow students during free time because of the separation of church and state,” said Jeremy Tedesco, an attorney representing the teenager. Tedesco is with Alliance Defending Freedom, a law firm that specializes in handling religious liberty cases. “He was told that he could pray before the school day begins or after the school day ends but he could not do it during the school day,” Tedesco told me.
