The Institute of Certified Professional Managers (CPM), which is a management body in Sri Lanka is organising its annual conference on the very practical and constructive theme of “Managing Enterprises: Challenges and Opportunities”. This year conference will be holding in collaboration with the Association of Management Development Institutes of South Asia (AMDISA). This body includes Management Institutes of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Nepal and Bhutan. Last year CPM conducted the conference jointly with the Malaysian Institute of Management. The conference will take place on 12 and 13 September 2013 at the Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration (SLIDA), Malalasekara Mawatha, Colombo 07. The CPM-AMDISA International Management Conference will follow the 61st AMDISA Executive Board meeting hosted by Institute of Certified Professional Managers (CPM) on 12 September 2013 when all members from the South Asian Countries will be present. The Association of Management Development Institutions in South Asia (AMDISA) was established in 1988, with the initiative of leading management development institutions in the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) region. AMDISA is an international not-for-profit association, and is a “SAARC Recognised Body”. CPM is proud to have Vice President of AMDISA for 2013-2015. The Chief Guest will be Deputy Speaker of Parliament Chandima Weerakkody and the Guest of Honour will be Karu Jayasuriya Member of Parilament and Patron of CPM. The President of AMDISA Prof. Dr. Asok Joshi and Prof. Lakshman R. Watawala President CPM and Vice President AMDISA will also address the inaugural ceremony. The Key Note Speaker will be Prof. Uditha Liyanage Director PIM. The conference topics will cover sectors that need immediate attention on Multidisciplinary Management, Public Enterprise Management, Business Management and Business Schools – Corporate Interface. The institute is confident that eminent speakers from our region will focus on these topics and give of their experiences in their respective countries. The CPM-AMDISA International Management Conference will provide participants with valuable inputs which will certainly enable them to add value to their professional competencies and also will highlight the importance of the management profession on the theme of Managing Enterprises: Challenges and Opportunities. On 13 September there will be four (4) technical sessions under the following topics; nSession 1 – “Opportunities and challenges in multidisciplinary management”. The Chairman of the session will be Prof. Y.K. Bhushan Head of IBS Business School, Mumbai, Vice Chancellor ICFAI University Meghalaya, and Chancellor ICFAI University Nagaland. There will be three speakers on the following topics. The first topic on “Strategic human resource development” will be handled by Commercial Bank Chairman Dinesh Weerakkody. The second topic on “New perspectives in strategic marketing management” will be delivered by Dr. Mukul Gupta, Director-Management Development Institute Gurgaon, India. The third presentation will be made by Dr. Nachiket Vechalekar Associate Dean PGP IndSearch, Pune, India on the topic “Management accounting: Creating and managing value” nSession 2 – “Public enterprise management: Need for change.” The Chairman of the session will be chaired by Secretary Ministry of Public Administration P.B. Abeykoon. There will be three speakers on the following topics. The session theme will be: The topic on “Managing state corporations” will be delivered by Deputy Secretary Ministry of Finance and Planning Dr. Suren Batagoda. “Management audit for creating efficiency in public enterprises” will be delivered by Former Auditor General and Commercial Bank Director S. Swarnajothi. “Public policy management and need for change” will be delivered by Program Director Public Policy PIM Sri Lanka Dr. Lloyd Fernando. nSession 3 – “Business Management in Key Economic Sectors”. There will be three speakers on the following topics. “A strategic approach to SME export growth” will be delivered by Institute of Policy Studies Director Dr. Saman Kelegama. Developing the Potential of IT and BPO will be delivered by WNS Global Services Pvt. Ltd. Managing Director Sri Lanka Dushan Soza. The next topic on “Free Ports to Boost Investment and Regional Trade” will be delivered by Joint Apparel Association Forum Secretary General Tuli Cooray. nSession 4 – “Can business school- corporate interface enhance the managing of enterprise?” This will be the panel discussion of business school heads and corporate leaders. The moderator for the session will be Post Graduate Institute of Management Sri Lanka Director Prof. Uditha Liyanage. The other panellists include Core education and Technologies Mumbai President and CEO Dr. N.M. Kondap, Director Royal Institute of Management Thimpu, Bhutan Karma Tshering, Prof. Shanthif Ali Dean Faculty of Management and Computing Maldives, Prof. Sampath Amaratunga Dean Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce University of Sri Jayawardenapura, National Institute of Business Management Director General Dr. E.A.
