The Iranian government has named a known accomplice in the 1979 - TopicsExpress

The Iranian government has named a known accomplice in the 1979 Iran Hostage Crisis to be its next ambassador to the United Nations. Hamid Aboutalebi, the “diplomat” tapped for this prestigious position, was a member of the radical militant group that stormed the American Embassy in Tehran and held 52 Americans hostage for 444 days. In fact, the organization is still active and Mr. Aboutalebi’s photo is proudly displayed on its official website. Making matters worse, the Iranian regime is now requesting a visa for Mr. Aboutalebi to live and work in New York where the U.N. is headquartered. By no means should terrorists, from Iran or elsewhere, be granted the freedom to walk the streets of Manhattan with diplomatic immunity. That is why the House voted last night, with my strong support, to bar Mr. Aboutalebi from entering the United States. Specifically, the bipartisan measure would deny entry to any UN representative found to be engaged in espionage, terrorism or a threat to national security. The Senate passed identical legislation earlier this week and now goes to the president for his signature. Barry Rosen, a former American hostage held in Tehran for more than a year, said it would be “like spitting on us” if Mr. Aboutalebi was allowed into our country. I couldn’t agree more. Please let me know what you think. Vern
