The Islamic claim to Jerusalem, part 2. Yesterday, we saw the break of Mohammed with the Jews, and his followers, and which forms the basis for the current hatred towards the Jews. Who looks to Islam, see that this religion is strongly linked to the person of Muhammad. His birthplace, Mecca is the most holy city in Islam, followed by Medina, where he is deceased. In contrast to the Christian faith, that Jesus, Gods son arose, and is seated at the right hand of God the father. If you read the Quran, it is entirely composed of the revelations received by Muhammad, first in Mecca and then in Medina, and contains 114 chapters called suras. The way of life of Muhammad, what is said, done, or omitted, is recorded in so-called hadiths, which serve as an example for Muslims. The authority of Scripture, the Quran is not only enhanced by the numerous references in the Quran hadiths, but also by tafsir de precipitation of Islamic scientific explanation and exegesis of the Quran. An important example of such a ratification is, in the hadiths and tafsir based Islamic belief , that Muhammad would have received his calling as a prophet, of the angel Gabriel / Jibril. While not mentioned in the Quran, the name of the person who initiates calling Muhammad. Only four times, is mentioned the name Gabriel, in the Bible, Daniel 8 verse 16, Daniel 9, verse 21, and Luke 1 verse 19 and verse 26. Nowhere, it is written in the Bible that Mohammed would be called of God, nowhere. Mecca was originally a place of pilgrimage, where it was possible to worship a multitude of gods: the Kaaba, the central place where the gods pantheon, including Allah could be worshiped. The Kaba is according to Islamic tradition, the temple, which, by Abraham and his son Ishmael, would be built in honor of Allah. Muhammad, wanted that the Kaba, exclusively, would serve, in honor of Allah, and that it had to be ended with the showing of homage to other gods. Revenues from Mecca, however, were mainly based on the pilgrimage, to all the gods, and this brought into conflict, Mohammed, with the local authorities. This, ran so high that Mohammed was forced to leave Mecca. This flight to Yathrib, an oasis town, north of Mecca, is called hijra, with the original meaning: cut through of the tribe bands, later neutralized to departure (or) emigration . In Yathrib, was called in the help of Muhammad, to settle tribal conflict, what was happening there. This, he succeeds, through to enact rules that are needed to keep the tribes. Muhammad was the undisputed religious and political leader of the community of faith, and gave Yathrib, a new name: Medina. (Al-Madina). (Madina, means city, jurisdiction). The rules were laid down in the Constitution of Medina; this Constitution, was used as a model for the administrative establishment of all, later conquered by the Muslims areas and cities. The hijra, therefore, marks the beginning of a fundamental change of character, of Islam. To the original religion , was added a political dimension. Also, the suras that notice clearly; the earlier suras from the Meccan period focus primarily on the ilam, as a religion, but who are directed from Medina, regulatory. Eight years after the hijra, the triumphant return of Muhammad to Mecca begins. Polytheism, is abolished, only Allah can be worshiped around the Kaba. The hijra, is so important to Islam that the year 622 AD, is the beginning of the Islamic era. The prescribed prayer towards Jerusalem, is abolished, it is instructed to pray towards Mecca. Despite this degradation, Jerusalem remained a sacred city for Muslims. That holiness is mainly derived from the night journey of Mohammed to Jerusalem, recorded in Sura 17 .
