The Island is famous for its beautiful coast and glens but we do - TopicsExpress

The Island is famous for its beautiful coast and glens but we do have mountains too. In March 2013 the worst snows for 50 years hit the west side of the Island and a BBC broadcast from here finished with the words: The Isle of Mans farming community is facing a catastrophe, as the search continues for thousands of livestock buried in snow. Farmers fear that thousands of sheep and cattle have died in the thick snow that has hit the UK in recent days. They have called for locals to assist in helping and finding any animals. The response that followed was fantastic with hundreds of volunteers taking their dogs and sleds up the mountain and trekking over wild hills and countryside to help find and dig the sheep out of the snow drifts. The music playing in this short film of one rescue was released by the trio Barrule as a single to raise money for the Manx farmers and is called Ny Kirree fo Niaghtey (The Sheep Under the Snow) from the album Barrule. https://youtube/watch?v=ScfW-060WUI
