The Ivy Leagues of China -Tsinghua University and Peking University [Tripkeys] Tsinghua University and Peking University are the top universities both in Beijing and China. They are not far. Just like Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, both in the same city of Boston, and both are the top of the world’s best universities. Tsinghua University was built in 1911, it is famous for Tsinghua Campus located in the northwest suburb of Beijing. It was first named Tsinghua School. In the year of 1937, after the Sino - Japanese War broke out, Tsinghua School moved south to Changsha, combined with Peking University and Nankai University to build NATIVE CHANGSHA TEMPORAR UNIVERSITY. In the year of 1938, it moved to Kunming, changed its name to NATIONAL SOUTHWEST ASSOCIATEO UNIVERSITY. In the year of 1946, it moved back to its original location Tsinghua Campus. Tsinghua University is located between the 4th and 5th ring of Haidian District of Beijing, east of Metro Line 13, west of Peking University, Summer Palace, it’s one of the most beautiful universities in China. Tsinghua was formerly the Royal Garden, in the reign of Qing Emperor Kangxi, it was called Spring Garden, Yongzheng, Qianlong, Xianfeng emperors had lived here, in the reign of Emperor Xianfeng, Spring Garden was renamed Tsinghua Campus. Location: 1st Tsinghua Campus Haidian District Beijing Transportation: To the South Gate: take bus line 307, 319, 331, 355, 375, take off at Tsinghuayuan Station, or take subway line 13, take off at Wudaokou Station, come out from Exit A. To the West Gate: take bus line 319, 320, 331, 365, 375, 498, 562,601, take off at Tsinghua University West Gate, or take subway line 4, take off at Yuanmingyuan Station, come out at Exit C. Tips: Both Tsinghua University and Peking University were quite close to The Summer Palace and The Old Summer Palace, so you can spend a whole day to visit these four places to experience the royal palace and the famous universities. Tips: There are guards in front of the both two universities, maybe let you show your ID card or passport, if you don’t want to show them, you would better walk alone, not in groups with your friends, just pretend like an international student. Peking University was built in 1898, it was originally named the Imperial University of Peking. 2015 American USNews World University Rankings: Peking University ranked 39th worldwide, is also the first one in the Chinese universities. The badge of Peking University was designed by the most famous master Mr.Luxun in August 1917. There are two words “Bei” and “Da” on the badge, the word “Bei” was designed like two persons back to back, and the word “Da” is like a standing person. The connotation of this badge is “Based on humans”, and it stands for the significant mission of inspiring wisdom by Peking University Students. Peking University are divided to main three parts: the north is a park, the middle is the villa, the south is the campus, the north part is only one wall from the Old Summer Palace. It’s said the north Peking University was one part of the Old Summer Palace. It’s full of Chinese constructions and gardens.
