The JOURNEY -1 Corinthians 15:58 - Tired - I love the sign I saw on day that said I love sleep. My life has a tendency to fall apart when Im awake. Are you tired? I mean like really tired? Not just the tired were most familiar with, like physical tiredness, but here are several types of tired. Emotionally tired or mentally tired. There is concentration tired where just thinking of a certain area of your life or a particular thing that has to be taken care will make you feel tired. Paul knew that even serving God can make you tired. Tired on many levels. I know that Ive come to realize that whenever you deal with matters of spiritual life there is an eternal weight involved. Matters of eternity possess great weight on those that serve in Gods Kingdom. Our earthly bodies only have but so much strength to expend before they are forced to rest. Our bodies can only go and do but so much before they shut down. Some people spend so much time doing good things that they fail to replenish their soul with God things. We can spend so much time pouring out for God that we fail to take the time for God to pour into us. Even when you do take time you can become incomplete tired. Where youre tired from never seeing the end of a certain task or job. Youre serving God but you arent really seeing immediate results. Serving God is never ending but its not meant to tire you to the point that you want to quit. Can you be tired from doing and giving all the time? Sure you can but its not meant for you to look at serving God as something to be dreaded. If youre tired, not only of life, but of serving in the Kingdom Paul wrote this for you. Tired of all the unappreciative energy spent on helping others? Tired of time spent with no monetary compensation? Are you tired of fighting the devil? Paul said that we must remain steadfast and immovable even if we feel our labor is in vain. Even when we feel all of our energy and effort is going unnoticed or when we feel that were not making a difference. What keeps me going when I get tired? Knowing that God is keeping an account of my labor. Paul used a word we all identify with - labor. No one would work a public job for free. We work jobs to be compensated so we can provide for our families. When you serve God, youre not doing it for free. Your labor isnt for nothing. Payment day will come. God is keeping record of all the hours, hard work and stress. Your labor is not a dead end reward but its a never ending reward. An eternal reward. Dont give up - you make a difference even if you dont see the difference you make. Your labor is not in vain.
