The Jakarta Post, Jakarta | Election Watch | Tue, June 17 2014, 10:43 AM. Election Watch News Prabowo-Hatta team to file report over ‘devil’ slander An official from the Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa election campaign team in East Java said a report would be filed with a local branch of the Elections Supervisory Committee (Panwaslu), regarding a woman who described presidential candidate Prabowo as the “devil reincarnate” on Facebook. East Java Prabowo-Hatta campaign team media center head, Hendro T. Subiantoro, said the Facebook user, Jessika Stefani Rachel, was a member of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) in Lumajang regency, East Java. Hendro said Jessika had posted and shared a picture of rival candidate ticket Joko “Jokowi” Widodo-Jusuf Kalla, with a caption saying Prabowo was “the reincarnation of the devil or Dajjal [Islamic antichrist] who disguised himself as a human” on June 12. Hendro added that Jessika appeared to be the daughter of former Lumajang regent Syamsi Ridwan. “We are not clear about her identity at the current time, but we have collected evidence and will file a report to Panwaslu on Tuesday,” he said as quoted by kompas on Monday. Furthermore, Hendro said the team had also found another Facebook account of a lawmaker for the East Java’s Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) with similar name, “Jessika Jr.”, as well as an identical profile picture. “This is not only a smear campaign, but also defamation and religious insult,” he said. Separately, Kusnadi, head of Jokowi-Kalla’s campaign team in East Java, said he would investigate the allegation. The Prabowo-Hatta ticket, awarded the official number one on ballots, is nominated by a Gerindra Party-led coalition comprising the Golkar Party, the National Mandate Party (PAN), the United Development Party (PPP), the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), which could secure 292, or 45.3 percent, of the total 560 seats at the House of Representatives. The Jokowi-Kalla ticket, awarded the official number two for the upcoming presidential election, is supported by the PDI-P, along with its coalition partners, the Nasdem Party, the National Awakening Party (PKB) and the Hanura Party, which could secure a total of 39.97 percent or 207 out of the total 560 House seats.
