The Japanese practice a form of archery called kyūjutsu, but most - TopicsExpress

The Japanese practice a form of archery called kyūjutsu, but most interestingly, it is practiced in the context of a philosophy called Kyudo, whose basic premise is that when ones state of mind and posture are correct (truthful, beautiful and good), then beautiful shooting is a natural product. We might call this doing the right thing for the right reason. Tim Russert was a man who approached his work in the right spirit--to get close (or closer) to the truth; using a process that was consistently the same for all of his guests, regardless of their political affiliation. When a skilled Kyudoka looses an arrow, you can hear his skill in the noise the string makes as it is released. Similarly, Russerts skill resonated with his audience, as they instinctively sensed the quality of his interrogations. David Gregory, unfortunately, is cut from different, albeit all-too-common media cloth. He (and the rest of the mainstream media culture) are more interested in appearances. Craftsmanship holds little interest for them, even as their suits and haircuts hold little interest for the audience. Not surprisingly, the workmanlike 77 year old Bob Schieffer is number one these days. Remarkably, the clear outcomes of Russert and Schieffers ratings seems to have escaped the media moguls notice. There seems to a lot of that going around the U.S. these days.
