The Jeffrey Baldwins of this world should never be forgotten! Elva Bottineau who is currently serving a life sentence for second-degree murder in this young boys death must be held to strict account concerning her most despicable lack of remorse and utter lack of responsibility instead of appearing in court and attempting to justify her action to this most defenseless young boy. The tragedy of young Jeffrey Baldwins tormented short life ought to remained seared in our collective memory as this horror occurred in the city of Toronto considered by many as a world class city in a country considered by many as one of the most desirable social environments in which to live and prosper. For me, the act of omission is far more culpable than the act of commission and thereby deserving of a more severe sanction. With tears my eyes, I imagine young, tired and very ill Jeffrey attempting to comprehend with the sophistication only a five year old is able to articulate--why love and tenderness is being withheld from him-- an innocent gentle child doing only what five year olds in the normal course of life do. In my opinion, young Jeffrey elected not to fight and struggle for life--if there exists a collective sense of good elsewhere--I fervently hope young Jeffrey is basking in the joy and in the light of all that which is most fine. My grievance is addressed to all the bystanders in the world who refuse to intervene--to become involved when aware of egregious breaches of what is correct and right--to all those individuals who consider the telling of tales to be a breach of social decorum. To you I say--a pox on all your houses. In my opinion we living in society all have an implied social contract obligation to assist those who are in need or to alert a responsible agent to intervene and provide assistance. A memory ought to be created for this Jeffrey in order to prevent future Jeffreys from suffering needlessly.
