The Jetsons By Connie Michaelis, Marketing Director Let’s walk down memory lane for a few minutes. Do you remember the Jetsons? Their TV debut was in 1962. They lived in the futuristic community called Orbit City in the year 2062. George Jetson, his wife Jane, their teenage daughter Judy and son Elroy lived in the Skypad Apartments. They had a robot maid called Rosie and a family dog named Astro. They entertained us with their push button appliances and other space-age conveniences. George commuted to work at Cosmo Space Sprockets in his bubble top aerocar where he worked 1 hour, two days a week and complained about exhausting hard labor. If you are smiling right now, we’re on the same page! Our cars may not fly but time sure does! How could it possibly be 52 years ago that the TV show first debuted? There have been so many amazing things that have happened. How about trips to the moon or the invention of personal computers, Concord flights to Europe in three hours, cell phones, Google optics, DVDs, on and on. How has your life changed? Are you good with adjusting to change? What once was fanciful thinking is now our daily reality. Embracing change is a key ingredient to successful ageing. Those that resist suffer more. I love to see new residents after a few weeks in their new homes so comfortable and happy. Many say that they wished they’d made their move earlier. The Jetsons have been on reruns for years, but in real life we have one opportunity to take this journey. Moving forward and embracing change is more difficult the older we get, but hanging on to the past is a mistake. Don’t be like Fred and Wilma Flintstone and be frozen in the past, let us help you move forward with your life!
