The Jewish Leaders get Schooled John 7:14-16 (TLB) Then, midway through the festival, Jesus went up to the Temple and preached openly. The Jewish leaders were surprised when they heard him. “How can he know so much when he’s never been to our schools?” they asked. So Jesus told them, “I’m not teaching you my own thoughts, but those of God who sent me. ************************************* Names and labels. It seems that wearing the right ones can get you in the right doors. Not having them can have all the doors shut in your face! Go to a prestigious school and most offices will invite you in for an interview. You may not even have graduated at the top of the class. Graduate near the top of a lesser school and your resume may not be placed at the top of the maybe list. Its all about the NAME Labels begin too early these days. Sometimes they start at our head and go all the way down to our toes. Sadly, some even have lost their lives to labels. Holister, Pac Sun, American Eagle... and of course, these are just the low end of the label maker brands that begin the search for belonging... by what you wear from head to toe! This image issue is a definite problem but not new. The Jewish leaders were right there with them -- How can he know so much when hes never been TO OUR SCHOOLS? they asked. Jesus SCHOOLED them. He did not need a label to give him clout. He did not need a big name to give prestige. Jesus just needed to present the ORIGIN of his information! GOD. The Jewish Leaders knew this Name, they knew this label. Being secure in who your message, whether it is WHO you represent, or WHAT you represent ,can give confidence. Knowing that those are from God is the best LABEL ever! If you must find a label - Use the same one Jesus did and school some people with truth.
