The Jewish music world mourns the loss of Claire Barry, who together with her late sister Myrna, thrilled Jewish and American audiences as the fabulous Barry Sisters. First becoming famous in the late 1930s when they were teenagers known by their given name the Bagelman Sisters, they were stars of Yiddish radio and recordings. They recorded extensively during the 78 era and made many LPs from the late 1950s until their last album in 1973. Changing their name to Barry, they were also favorites of American audiences appearing in concert, stage and television appearances, most notably on the Ed Sullivan Show and many other variety shows of the day. The death of Myrna in 1976 brought an end to the duo, but up until a couple of years ago Claire continued to perform. She passed away on November 30 at the age of 94. Here is a nice clip of the Barry Sisters from a documentary called Perfect Harmony for which they were justly famous. https://youtube/watch?v=tcrzefCGUFc
