The Jhullawalls and odisha Relief management: Rains are still - TopicsExpress

The Jhullawalls and odisha Relief management: Rains are still there! Both, theGovt and the people were not prepared for such unprecedented continous rains. However, quantum of rainfalls is reducing. No Union Govt Ministers are yet visiting odisha. But what about NGO capacity to repsond to recent floods? Jhulawalas/NGOs often attack the Govt. for its negligence in reposponding to the disaster-victims,like the opposition .They come to TV show and criticise govt. But NGOs role was again found non-existant during the last 3 days floods. No NGO was seen in the villages evacuating the affected people or giving them counselling or at least standing there with a teams of 5 / 10 volunteers etc. They are seen comfortable with giving chhuda-guda after the floods recede.May be a good fare-weather friend? Some of them are also doing politics in the name of NGO-Cordination.Instead of running after money and politics, they should give relief-materials to Dist Collector and close material-relief-work in a day. If they have real capacity ( which i know many do not have), they should provide working-volunteers-teams(5/10 persons in a team consisting of social worker, pharmacist, carpenter, engineer, manual labourers, counsellors etc. but people who knows swimming) to Dist Admn. to go and stay in various Blocks for days and help in various activities there.
