The Job Market and College of the Redwoods have combined to offer new program through CR’s Community Education Department – Business-to-Business Customer Service and Sales classes. This short-term, 64-hour training begins Tuesday, June 3 and will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through July 24 at the CR Community Education facility, 525 D St., Eureka. The deadline to apply is Monday, May 19. The Job Market can fund qualifying candidates for this training. Contact the Job Market for more information and for potential financial assistance today. Call 441-5627 or (800) 242-1315. Or go to the website: thejobmarket.org “We are thrilled that The Job Market asked for business input and are collaborating with CR on this training,” said Bob McCall, sales director for Cypress Grove Chevre in Arcata. ‘As our company grows, we have had to hire regularly for this type of position and few applicants come with actual experience or understanding of what this job requires. Anyone interviewing for a customer service or sales position who has taken this course will have a distinct advantage over other applicants.” Sales and customer service is a key career entry point to grow and advance within many local companies. It is estimated by the state regional labor market specialist that there will be 50 job openings in our region for these positions over the next year. Local employers confirm this, stating they are regularly looking for workers to fill their sales and customer service openings – candidates who ideally have some experience or at least some knowledge of business-to-business sales and customer support. Candidates with these skills are hard to find. The training will teach participants the difference between business-to-business (B2B) versus retail sales and will provide the indispensable knowledge necessary to succeed as a B2B sales and/or customer service representative. Participants will learn how to build and sustain mutually beneficial partnerships with business clients, how to manage product promotions and order processes effectively, and how to handle the most common problems that can occur in B2B sales That is the goal. Job applicants who complete this course will have the ability to speak to potential employers with confidence and familiarity about B2B sales and the deeper customer knowledge and relationship this type of sales and customer service takes. Local businesses have said they will give priority to clients who succeed in this training. The Job Market will be helping course graduates to secure a career in this growing field upon completion. “The combination of partners who collaborated to bring this training to local job seekers is unique and carefully designed to meet both business and job seeker needs. We are optimistic this training will be very fruitful for all involved,” stated Connie Lorenzo, Program Manager for the county’s Department of Health and Human Service’s Employment Training Division, “I would recommend it to anyone looking to work with a local manufacturer or wholesaler.” ###
