The Joint Action Front( JAF), a pro labour pressure group, has commenced mobilisation of labour, civil society groups and other stakeholders in the education sector for a nationwide protest in solidarity with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). The protest and mass rally, which will be held during the first week in August, is to compel the federal and state governments t̶̲̥̅̊ø̲̣̣̥ implement Collect Bargaining Agreements (CBA) with striking lecturers of tertiary institutions as well as to save the public education sector from collapse. In a statement jointly issued by JAF Chairperson and Secretary, Dr. Dipo. Fashina and Abiodun Aremu, the group said the nationwide protest to save the education sector from collapse has become inevitable and called on Nigerians to join forces with ASUU and other unions in the academic sector to demand adequate funding of the sector and autonomy in the administration and running of tertiary institutions. The group equally called on all stakeholders to hold consultative and mobilisation meetings and rallies, in view of the progamme of actions to be made public in the next one week.
