The Journey from Welcome Home to Now: Reunion, Reconnecting, Routine(tm) Register today to attend the upcoming The Journey from Welcome Home to Now: Reunion, Reconnecting, (tm) Institute. The Military Child Education Coalition(r) (MCEC(r)), a nonprofit organization addressing the educational needs of children in military families, presents the training. This one-day course teaches professionals who support military- connected children and youth the challenges and joys that children face during a time of reintegration following a family members return after an extended absence. Participants will learn strategies to help students adjust during the reunion, and during the journey of reconnecting and reestablishing family routine. Date and Time: Place: October 7, 2014 Central Texas College Registration and Breakfast: 8:00 am - 8:30 am Building 156 Room 216 & 217 Institute Training: 8:30 am - 4:00 pm Killeen, TX 76540 Including a Working Lunch Sponsor: Funded by the Got Your 6 (GotYour6.org) and with contributions from Central Texas College---Child Development Department and Nursing/Mental Health No Cost to Participants Learning Outcomes: * Identify potential reintegration stressors and their implications for the child and family structure * Differentiate structures that support children and youth during reintegration and those which strengthen or impede the ability to thrive * Integrate positive strategies which develop hardiness in children and youth during the reintegration phase * Identify the importance of service and giving back in the lives of children and youth as an impactful trait to develop CEU Credit Options: Participants may apply for Continuing Education Unit (CEU) credit up to 1.2 CEU (12 clock hours = 1.2 CEU) upon completion of training. Completion requirements are: *Attendance at 95% of the training *A score of 80% or higher on an end-of-course assessment *Completion of an end-of-course evaluation The fee for the CEU credit is $25.00, payable upon completion of training.
