The Judas argument against the Bible Imagine youre Judas. According to the Bible, for years now youve been a close associate to a supernatural being, personally witnessing this person perform amazing miracles, such as walking on water, turning water into wine, raising people from the dead, controlling the weather etc. How stupid would you have to be to sell him for 30 bucks? The only way this story makes sense is if the historical person behind the Jesus myth did not, in fact, perform any miracles. This would explain why Judas would be disappointed and bitter. Imagine being drawn in into a cult and then realizing youve been duped, after having wasted precious resources and possibly the best years of your life, walking around, spreading apocalyptic doom and gloom. What can you do? In a fit of rage you rat the cultists out, reveal the location of the cult leader and earn a reward in the process. But the cult doesnt die. In fact, it prospers and evolves. Over time, all sorts of miracles are attributed to the cult leader, thus giving birth to the modern mythology of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, Miracle Worker. For whatever reason, the cultists kept the betrayal part in, and didnt seem bothered by the fact that it no longer made any sense after Jesus was turned into Christ. A similar case can be made for Doubting Thomas (or Thomas the Skeptical Empiricist, as I like to call him). Why would Thomas doubt the resurrection, knowing that Jesus had previously raised rotten people from the dead and had done countless other impressive feats? Coming back to life wouldnt be out of the ordinary for someone who was known for performing supernatural acts. But one would be entirely justified in doubting that an ordinary person could do that. dumnezeu-e-imaginar.blogspot.ro/2013/11/the-judas-argument-against-bible.html
