The June 2013 Lake Fest, the Forest Lake area community-wide - TopicsExpress

The June 2013 Lake Fest, the Forest Lake area community-wide celebration, gave TEFFLA the opportunity to participate in the week-long activities through sponsorship and support of several events. The Build-A-Boat Challenge, with the help of very generous donations from both the Hallberg Family Foundation and Olson’s Excavating and Sewer Service, continues to be a popular event for the community elementary schools. Nine elementary schools participated with creative, “floatable” entries. Forest View Elementary was selected as the Judge’s Choice winner and the school will receive an iPad (from TEFFLA) and possession of the traveling trophy for 2013. The People’s Choice awards were presented to Wyoming Elementary (1st), and LILA (2nd). All three schools marched, along with their winning boats, in the Forest Lake 4th of July Parade. TEFFLA thanks these generous individuals who worked so hard to support and raise awareness for TEFFLA. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The 2013 Hall of Fame event was sponsored with support from TEFFLA The two night event began with the induction ceremony on Monday, June 3. It was intertwined with the Forest Lake High School’s Academic Awards presentation. A reception to honor the new inductees, past Hall of Fame inductees and their friends and families was held the following evening. Congratulations to all the Hall of Fame inductees. We applaud their life accomplishments and legacy they have created in the Forest Lake area community. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dueling Piano Event was a successful joint effort with the Community Scholarship Foundation (CSF) to bring an evening of song and merriment to the Lake Fest festivities. About 120 toe-tapping guests were treated to the amazing talents of Charlie O (also known as Charlie Ollman) and his dueling piano partner, as they entertained the delighted group. We are planning to make this an annual event!
