The Junta de Andalucía has just announced a plan to improve hospital services in October by reducing waiting times and having a more ‘intimate’ approach in Emergencies. They want to look at over-crowded facilities in waiting rooms and make 5 minutes the maximum time to be seen in Emergency. Also they want to discharge hospital patients before 10:00 am keeping their stay in hospital as short as possible. Their aim is to supply up to date information to relatives and also publish the waiting times for each specialist service. Experts from the Andalucía Health Service have been looking at changes needed in the hospitals in Torrecárdenas (Almería); Puerta del Mar, Puerto Real and Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz); Juan Ramón Jímenez and Infanta Elena (Huelva) ; The Hospital Complex in Jaen; Virgen de las Nieves (Granada); Regional and Virgin de la Victoria (Málaga) and Virgen del Rocio, Virgen Marcarena and Virgen de Valme (Sevilla). From September they will be looking at smaller district hospitals.
